"Romeo and Juliet" is a play which I encountered many times in my life. It is not anything surprising - after all, it is one of the most popular love stories ever written and the most recognizable works of William Shakespeare. I have seen it in many adaptations and many languages. Yet coming back to the core, the text in an original dialogue - it makes an impression much bigger than all the other versions altogether.
Even though there are many fantastic stories developed on a base of "Romeo and Juliet", reading it in Old English made me feel as if I was discovering something new. It is a weird sensation since I analyzed this story throughout and I am familiar with many quotes from it [it also helped with understanding the language]. The very original version of Shakespeare's play was an interesting experience. At the same time, it had awaken a guilt inside me that I did not do it earlier.
"Romeo and Juliet" is a truly wonderful story. It says love is stronger than anything else, even if it is followed by a tragic ending. I like the plot and setting of the play as well as the inferred message and am always glad to return to it.
